The S&P 500 Index originally began in 1926 as the “Composite Index” comprised of only 90 stocks. In 1957 the index expanded to include the 500 components we now have today.  The S&P 500 historical returns is the broad gauge of U.S. Stock Market performance year to year basis.  Here’s a look back at Market Returns over the last 30 years.
